Stuart Broad comes up with funny remark about Steve Smith returning Djokovic’s serve in charity match

Over the past decade, Smith has averaged more than 52 runs per innings against Broad, who has dismissed the Australian skipper 11 times in Tests.

Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad on Saturday took to social media to make a a cheeky remark about the viral video of Australian batter Steve Smith returning a serve from tennis star Djokovic at a charity match in Brisbane on January 11. In a series of entertaining charity matches ahead of the Australian Open 2024, the clash of cross-sport stars captivated the sporting world. Djokovic served a routine body serve, and Smith calmly created space and returned serve to stun the crowd at Melbourne Park.

Djokovic, the world’s No. 1 tennis player, was taken aback by Smith’s cool comeback and gave a respectful nod to the world-class cricketer. The following day, Broad shared his own experience of bowling against Smith on the field for years on his Instagram feed.

Broad shared the video of Smith returning Djokovic’s serve on his Instagram story and wrote, “Djokovic finding out what it’s been like to bowl to Steve Smith for the last 10 years.”

Over the past decade, Smith has averaged more than 52 runs per innings against Broad, who has dismissed the Australian skipper 11 times in Tests. Both Smith and Broad have captivated cricket fans with their fiery rivalry in some of the most thrilling Ashes series of all time.

The former skipper is Australia’s fourth-highest all-time Test run scorer with 9,514 runs at an impressive 58.01, having scored 32 centuries in his career. Smith has scored 12 of Australia’s 32 Test centuries in Ashes against England.
