India vs England: Shreyas Iyer warms up for Test series with gritty knock for Mumbai

Shreyas Iyer shines for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy ckash with Andhra Pradesh, executes perfect warmup for IND vs ENG series

Star batter Shreyas Iyer has featured in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. Shreyas Iyer featured for Mumbai Ranji Team against Andhra where he slammed a gritty knock of 48 runs. Iyer was in the dire need of some much needed runs which he finally got.

The star middle order batter was lacklustre in the IND vs SA Test series. And with the IND vs ENG Test series barely 2 weeks away, Iyer needed some runs under his belt.

In the ongoing Ranji clash where skipper Ajinkya Rahane failed, Iyer was prudent with his shot selections. Playing a run a ball, he slammed 7 boundaries to reach 48 runs before being dismissed by Nithish Kumar Reddy.

The IND vs ENG series is of utmost importance. With crucial WTC Points up for grabs, India will aim to yet again claim the top spot of the table. While the team is preparing for the T20 World Cup, Iyer got some time to prepare for the upcoming Test series.

Earlier, India Cricket Team head coach Rahul Dravid dismissed rumours that Shreyas Iyer was dropped from the T20I series owing to disciplinary issues. India will take on England for the 1st Test on 25th Jan and Iyer plans to play a crucial role for the hosts.
