The India cricket team claimed a comfortable victory in the first T20I of the IND vs AFG T20 series. Chasing down the target in just 17.3 overs, all Indian batters impressed everyone except two, Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma.
Rohit was run out in the very first over, and being the skipper, he would not worry about his spot. Varma, on the other hand, scored just 26 off 22 balls, and at one point, he was 10 (15). His slow start raised quite a few eyebrows, while Shubman Gill was going full throttle on the other end.
With the first match done and dusted, the focus shifts to the IND vs AFG 2nd T20I.
The return of Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal to the side means someone has to miss out; at least that’s what former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra thinks.
Talking about Varma’s spot, Chopra on his show Cricket Chaupaal said, “Will Tilak Varma play the next match or not?“
“I don’t think he will. I think he’ll be dropped. Because if Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal are available, who will go out of the team? Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh aren’t going out; I’m unsure about Shubman Gill, but I think Tilak Varma can be dropped.”
