India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan is yet to return to the domestic circuit for Ranji Trophy 2024 as Jharkhand is still awaiting his arrival. Kishan was advised to play domestic cricket in order to find his way back to the national side. With the star opting out of the SA series and not being named for the IND vs AFG T20Is, the timeline of his return to the Men in Blue is unclear.
Where is Ishan Kishan?
As per PTI, Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) secretary said that Kishan was yet to confirm his availability. He added that keeper could ‘walk in’ to the playing XI whenever he informs about his availability.
“No, Ishan hasn’t contacted or told us anything about his availability. Whenever he tells us, he will walk into the playing XI,” Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) secretary Debasish Chakraborty told the agency.
Ishan Kishan’s exclusion was also a matter of debate. He had withdrawn himself from the tour of South Africa citing mental fatigue. However, Kishan was spotted partying in Dubai. Speaking on Kishan, Dravid went on to say, “he requested for a break in South Africa which we supported. I am sure when he is available, he will play. When he is available, I am sure he will play domestic cricket and get back.”
Ishan has appeared for India in 32 T20 Internationals and has scored 796 runs. In the series against Australia, Ishan played 3 of the 5 matches. He scored half-centuries in the first two games before being dismissed for a duck in the third.
