IND vs AFG: Shubman Gill hammers quick fire 23 in Yashasvi Jaiswal’s absence

Shubman Gill blasts quick firing knock in Yashasvi's absence, hammers 5 boundaries in IND vs AFG 1st T20I

Shubman Gill showcased his fine hitting skills in the IND vs AFG 1st T20I. Though he made little amends to the initial horrible mix-up that costed Rohit Sharma to depart for a duck. Gill then launched a quick firing attack to hammer 5 boundaries before returning back to the pavilion.

The youngster got his chance to open for India in the game after Yashasvi Jaiswal got injured. Hoping for a good start with the returning Rohit Sharma, he was directly involved in Rohit departing for a duck.

Gill immediately took an aggressive approach to hit back at the Afghans. He fired 5 boundaries to slam 23 runs from 12 balls with a impressive strike rate of 192.

The youngster was left ball watching which led a fuming Rohit to depart for a duck. But Gill without being rattled, kept his composure to hit the Pathans.

In the absence of Yashasvi Jaiswal who is a direct rival to his opening spot, Gill has proved that he can switch gears at relative ease. It will be interesting to see where Gill plays in the next game with Jaiswal and Kohli all expected to return. Gill, a man in form will look to consolidate his spot in the top order.
