IND vs AFG 1st T20I: No Sanju Samson, Jitesh Sharma gets nod ahead of RR skipper in crucial clash

IND vs AFG: Maiden ODI ton in IND vs SA not enough, Jitesh Sharma plays ahead of Sanju Samson

No chance for Sanju Samson. Jitesh Sharma gets the nod ahead of the Rajasthan Royals in the IND vs AFG 1st T20I. It is understood that Jitesh is ahead of Sanju in the picking order. As a result, Sanju has to sit out on the bench for this crucial encounter.

It was understood that Sanju Samson who got a call up in the T20I series will feature for the Men in Blue. Samson hammered his maiden ODI ton in IND vs SA 3rd ODI to earn a place back in the team. But with the board backing Jitesh, it is the latter who gets the nod ahead of the dynamic Sanju.

We will bowl first. No particular reason, the pitch is good and it doesn’t change a lot here. A lot to gain from the 3 games, we haven’t had too much T20 cricket leading to the World Cup, there’s IPL, but this is an international game andwe’ll try to achieve a few things,” said Rohit Sharma at the Toss.

I had a chat with rahul bhai regarding the combination going forward and what we need to do as a group. That’s what we’ll try to do, but winning is the most important thing. Sanju Samson, Avesh, Yashashvi (who didn’t pull off well) and Kuldeep miss out,” Rohit concluded.

India Playing XI: Rohit Sharma(c), Shubman Gill, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Jitesh Sharma(w), Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar
