Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has given an out of the box suggestion. It is almost certain that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play the 2024 T20 World Cup. However, should they not play, Gavaskar suggested both should be with the team in the dugout.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli taken the headlines after making a return to India’s T20 setup after a long absence of 14 months. Speaking about the upcoming T20 World Cup, Gavaskar has pointed out that the duo has loads of experience and the team can benefit greatly from the same.
“I will also say that, it’s an out-of-the-box suggestion, you can take them (Kohli and Rohit) along with the team as well, if you cannot pick them in the 15, because of their experience. If Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are in the dugout, imagine what will be the team’s confidence,” Gavaskar added.
While it is evident that the duo will feature in the India Playing XI. Even former cricketer Deep Dasgupta has banked on Kohli to score 500-600 runs in the ICC event. It is imperative that both will be the top most crucial players for the Men in Blue in the T20 World Cup.
However, Gavaskar’s out of the box suggestion too makes sense in having the top most experienced guys in the dugout. Even if they don’t play in the wildest of chances, the amount of experience which the duo can impart to the youngsters will be invaluable.
