Rohit Sharma is back in the Indian T20I team after a gap of a year, and as the captain for the series against Afghanistan, that starts on Thursday. The ‘Hitman’ had last played a T20I during the World cup 2022, where the team lost in the semis to England.
And once again, he looks all set to lead the team in the T20 World Cup 2024 as well. But before that, Rohit & Co. will have to overcome tricky Afghanistan. Having said that, the Indians have never lost to the Asian side, and could be in for a 3-0 win.
If that happens, Rohit might just add another record to his already impressive CV. He is tantalisingly close to becoming India’s most successful captain, surpassing MS Dhoni. Till now, the latter has the most wins as an Indian T20I skipper — 41. Rohit currently has 39 under his belt from 51 matches, while Virat Kohli has 30.
Not just that, Rohit now has a chance to become the T20I skipper with most sixes in the world. Right now, he is tied at the second spot with Aaron Finch — 82 sixes. The current record-holder is England’s Eoin Morgan with 86 maximums.
