Mumbai player dies after ball from adjacent pitch strikes his head

A cricketer in Mumbai's Matunga met a tragic end after he was struck behind his ear by a ball that flew in from an adjacent pitch

In a tragic series of events, a Mumbai cricketer died after he was hit on the head by a ball from another pitch. As per reports, the 52-year-old passed away after being struck by the ball while playing at the Dadkar Maidan in Matunga, Mumbai. The deceased was a participant in the Kutchhi Visa Oswal Vikas Legend Cup, a T20 tournament for people aged 50 or more.

As per reports, the player was struck on the head by the ball from the adjacent field, with his back faced at the batter. He was hit behind his ear following which he was taken to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.

“He fell down and was rushed to hospital, where he was declared dead,” said an eyewitness as per the Times of India.

An accidental death report was filed by the police, who added that the possibility of someone intentionally hitting the player was also ruled out from the autopsy conducted.
