Harmanpreet Kaur’s India women lost the INDW vs AUSW 2nd T20I on Sunday. The 2nd T20I presented an excellent chance for the Indian women to win the series with a match to spare. However, the Indian team squandered that chance when they lost to Alyssa Healy’s Australia by six wickets. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur after the match rued youngster Shreyanka Patil’s ‘off-target’ bowling in the 19th over, instantly invoking the wrath of social media users who slammed Harmanpreet for putting the blame on a 21-year-old.

Chasing a total of 131, Australia reached their target with an over remaining. Youngster Shreyanka Patil went for 17 runs in the penultimate over, with the Aussies smashing her all over the park. In the post match presentation ceremony, Harmanpreet said, “We took the game till the 19th over, which was the biggest positive. In the 19th over, if Shreyanka Patil was on target, it would have made a huge difference for us.”
Her comments did not sit well with social media users, who were quick to point out that Harmanpreet has been pretty average with the bat herself in the last few innings. Some users asked Harmanpreet to concentrate on herself instead of pinning the blame on the young bowler.
