All-rounder Shivam Dube has made his way back into the India cricket team T20 side. After playing against Ireland and in the Asian Games, Dube has finally made it to the India team again. The pace-bowling all-rounder was included in the 16-man squad for the IND vs AFG T20 series following the exclusion of India’s premier all-rounder, Hardik Pandya.
Former cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra also backed Dube’s selection, with both Pandya and Deepak Chahar not in the squad.
“Shivam Dube is back, and that is not a surprise for me, as you need a replacement for Hardik Pandya,” he said.
Chopra criticizes Indian management for the non-selection of Shivam Dube
However, Chopra also criticized the Indian team management for not playing Shivam Dube against Australia in India and the Proteas in South Africa.
“But I am wondering why he wasn’t taken to South Africa. They could have played him against Australia as well. You have six batters and five bowlers; you don’t have a sixth bowler, but you still don’t make the change. You played 5 matches in India, and he was in the squad, but he didn’t play. Why?
He should have been taken to South Africa; it would have been the perfect place to test him, but no, they didn’t take him.”
