Former South African fast bowler Allan Donald has heaped praises on India’s pace spearhead Mohammed Siraj. Sirja had an impressive outing in the IND vs SA 2nd Test. The former Proteas bowling legend termed Siraj a ‘revelation’ and said India will benefit a lot from Siraj and Bumrah’s partnership.
Siraj grabbed the headlines on the first day of the IND vs SA 2nd Test. The pacer bulldozed through the Proteas bowling line-up in the first hour of the Test match itself. Siraj achieved his career best figures of 6/15. Courtesy of his fantastic spell, the Proteas were bowled out for 55 in the first innings. It paved the way for India’s comeback win in the series.
Although Allan Donald would not be too happy seeing his country surrender the Test match so easily, he has clearly been impressed by Siraj. In an interview with Sportstar, Donald minced no words in praising Siraj.
“I’ve taken great care in watching India bring through some young quicks and the one that has just taken six for 15 (Mohammed Siraj in the first innings of the Cape Town Test) is a revelation,” Donald said.
“I think when I was in Bangladesh, and when India played a Test series there and in Dhaka, the way he (Siraj) ran in every single ball was good to see. I think he’s got such a great attitude. He’s got tremendous skill and a massive heart.
“We always talk about this white line fever, and this guy for me, just doesn’t take a backward step. And I think, partnering up with Jasprit Bumrah, and the two of them are just sublime, absolutely sublime,” Donald added.
