West Indies will look forward to the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 with renewed vigour. After failing to qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup, it will be a chance for Rovman Powell-led side to become the first team to win three T20 World Cups. Moreover, the tournament will be held in the Caribbeans in addition to United States. It will provide a fantastic chance to the West Indian team to lift their third T20 World Cup trophy in their home soil. 20 qualified teams have been divided into four groups with each group consisting of 5 teams. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 8 stage.
West Indies have been placed in Group C of the tournament. Rovman Powell’s team will face some tricky fixtures in the group with teams such as Afghanistan, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Uganda taking the other slots.
West Indies will begin their World Cup campaign against Papua New Guinea on 2nd June in Guyana. They will then take on Uganda on 8th June followed by the match against New Zealand on 12th June. The two-time T20 World Cup winners will play their final group stage game on 17th June against Afghanistan.
