South African batter Aiden Markram played the innings of his life in the IND vs SA 2nd Test in Cape Town. Markram scored a counter-attacking century in South Africa’s second innings to help the Proteas take a slender lead in a low-scoring match. Markram became the first batter in the Test match to score above 50 with his innings of 106 of 103 balls. It was Mohammad Siraj that got rid of Markram finally, and the Cape Town crowd gave Markram a standing ovation for the stupendous innings.

The IND vs SA 2nd Test in Cape Town saw batters struggle with bowlers dominating the match from beginning to the end. 23 wickets fell on the first day of the Test. South Africa were all out for 55 in their first innings before bowling India out for 153. South Africa resumed Day 2 from 62 for 3 with Markram taking the attack to the opposition early on even as wickets kept falling from the other end.
Markram hit 17 fours and 2 sixes to bring up his ton in challenging conditions. However, Siraj got the better of Markram soon after the latter completed his century. A perfectly bowled good length ball in the fourth stump resulted in Markram’s dismissal. Markram pushed at the ball and his edge carried to the Indian wicketkeeper.
The almost-packed crowd at Cape Town gave Markram a hero’s send-off, with the whole crowd standing up to applause Markram’s gritty innings.
