Former South Africa captain Shaun Pollock has blamed the ‘incompetence’ of pitch curators for preparing a poor surface at Cape Town in IND vs SA 2nd Test.
Ahead of the start of the second day, Pollock along with Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar opened about the poor preparation of the track which saw 23 wicket falling in opening day.
While Gavaskar claimed that the pitch was intentionally prepared to suit the Proteas pacers, Pollock opined that it was just incompetence.
“I don’t think this is prepared this way. I honestly think it’s incompetence in how the pitches are prepared because they’re not trying to make it stand up”, Pollack said on Star Sports.

“They want pace and bounds, but they don’t want dangerous stuff like this”, the former Proteas captain further added.
However, Sunil Gavaskar disagreed with Pollock and said that curators knew what they were preparing.
“I will slightly disagree because if you want pace and bounce, you would not leave these clumps of grass, you would just have it even, it has to like this, this is even covering”, Gavaskar opined.
