Chaos ensued on Day 2 of the 3rd PAK vs AUS Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) as play was stopped way before rain interrupted play. Early tea was taken on Day 2, with Australia at 116/2 at the break. However, play did not resume despite a slight drizzle which began shortly after.
PAK vs AUS: Rested Shaheen Afridi practices for NZ T20s
What was more baffling was Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi practicing taking catches with the white-ball while play was stopped. The fiery pacer, who was ‘rested’ to keep him fresh for the New Zealand T20Is, earned flak for warming the bench, as the debate over Tests and T20s rages on.
Afridi will lead Pakistan against New Zealand in a 5-match T20I series after the 3rd Test at SCG. The premium pacer was targeted by many former cricketers for opting out of the 3rd Test and preferring to focus on T20 cricket instead.
Pakistan were bowled out for 313 runs in the 1st innings, with Australian skipper Pat Cummins bagging his third consecutive fifer. While Rizwan top scored with a vital 88-run knock, it was tailender Aamir Jamal’s fighting knock that propelled the side past 313.
