‘South Africa don’t have batters who can score 150-200 runs and trouble Indian team’

India vs South Africa: With all the batsmen failing in the first innings, South Africa will have a tough time to get past India's lead.

After the hosts were bundled out for 55 in the first innings of the India vs South Africa Test in Cape Town, Rohit Sharma & co. are in a strong position to win the match, and draw the series level. Former India opener Sunil Gavaskar feels too, that India is poised for victory, as the Proteas don’t have the batting resources, who can help them set a target of 150-200.

As the situation stands, South Africa are 62/3, and trail by 38 runs in the second innings. Gavaskar, while talking on Star Sports said, “Three wickets have already fallen. India are still in the lead. So I don’t think this match can go out of India’s grasp. Yes, it might not be an innings victory.”

“They (India) might have to bat a little but I don’t think South Africa have batters who can score 150-200 runs and trouble the Indian team a little.” With Aiden Markram and David Bedingham as the only apparent threats left now, India should be aiming to wrap up the proceedings under 100-run lead.
