South Africa’s veteran Test cricketer, Dean Elgar played his farewell innings on Day 1 of the IND vs SA 2nd Test at Cape Town on Wednesday.
As bizarre it might sound, both of Elgar’s innings came in on the same day.
The stand-in skipper scored 4 in his first innings and 12 in the second as he bid adieu to international cricket.
The 36-year-old received a heartfelt send off from the Indian players. Virat Kohli gave a warm hug to the Elgar as he walked back towards the dressing room.
The Day 1 of the Cape Town Test turned out to be a wickets galore as 23 wickets fell on the opening day.

Mohammed Siraj picked up a 6-fer to help India bundle out the hosts for a mere 55. In reply, Team India were looking in command with 153/4 but a shocking collapse saw the visitors lose 6 wickets in 11 balls without adding a single run.
The Proteas managed to score 62/3 at stumps with Aiden Markram (36*) and David Bedingham (7*) at the crease.
