SA vs IND 2nd Test: India middle and lower order collapses, Proteas scalp 6 wickets in 11 balls

Test Cricket at it’s very best? The India Cricket Team first demolished South Africa for just 55 runs. They came back hard and started to score runs in a quick flurry. Post tea, the tides turned. India lost 6 wickets without adding a solitary run on the scoreboard.

With Lungi Ngidi triggering the batting collapse when he struck three wickets in his maiden over. The rest wickets continued to fall like a pack of cards as India ended their innings for 153, with a lead of 98 runs. The last 11 balls of the South African spell read – W 0 W 0 W 0 0 W 0 W W.

The India team lost all composure once KL Rahul departed. Virat Kohli lead the charge and approached his fifty. Shreyas Iyer departed for a duck which brought KL to the crease. The resilient KL remained on the crease for 33 balls before Ngidi got rid of the Indian wicket-keeper.

It was the wicket following which the floodgates opened. Batters came and left in mere balls as India failed to add a single run on the board after KL’s departure.

Ravindra Jadeja who missed the first Test, came to the crease. He survived for a ball before departing on the second ball for a duck. With no Shardul Thakur in team, Jasprit Bumrah walked in at number 8. He too survived for 2 balls before departing for a duck.

Virat Kohli was next to depart. Desperate to hit a big shot and get his fifty. He hacked hard at whatever he got, and ended up giving a catch to the slips. Siraj and Prasidh departed on consecutive balls as India ended their innings for 153.
