India’s prodigy Yashasvi Jaiswal has a tough fight with New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra to win ICC Emerging Player of the Year 2023 as both have been named as the nominees on Wednesday.
ICC announced Jaiswal, Rachin, South Africa’s Gerald Coetzee, and Sri Lanka’s Dilshan Madushanka as nominees for the Emerging Player award.

When Jaiswal was given his Test cap in the Caribbean in July, the left-hander took full advantage of the opportunity, scoring a century in Dominica and winning Player of the Match. In the second Test of the tour, he scored 57 and 38. Jaiswal has scored 288 runs in three Test at an average of 57.60.
On the same tour, Jaiswal was awarded his T20I debut. He has scored 430 runs in 15 T20I matches at a strike rate of 159.25.

Rachin was one of the most run scorers in ODI World Cup 2024 with 578 runs in 10 matches.
In the absence of Kane Williamson, New Zealand needed someone to step up, and the left-hander delivered a knock of 123* (96), displaying class in the series against England. He has scored 820 runs in 25 ODI matches at an average of 41.00.
