Pakistan’s lower middle order showed an incredible fight on Day 1 of the AUS vs PAK 3rd Test in Syndey. The first session was dominated by Australia, with Pakistan scoring 75 runs and losing 4 wickets before lunch.
The visitors fought back after Lunch, scoring 124 runs for the loss of two wickets. However, it was all Aamer Jamal and Pakistan in the last session, as the visitors ended their first innings at 313 with an incredible 86-run last-wicket stand.
After Pakistan were dismissed in 77.1 over at the SCG, Australian openers came out to bat. However, it was just David Warner who was in action as Sajid Khan bowled just one solitary over before the play on Day 1 ended.
Pakistan’s lower order troubles Australian bowlers
Pakistan had a tough start, losing their openers, Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub, in the first eight balls of the match. Shan Masood and Babar Azam tried to fight back but couldn’t get past the relentless Australian-pace attack. Saud Shakeel followed suit, and Pakistan was 96-5.
Mohammed Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha fought back and put up a 94-run stand. However, another collapse saw Pakistan go from 190-5 to 227-9.
However, Aamer Jamal’s incredible 82 off 97 balls saw Paksiat propel to 313 and ensure the visitors stayed in the game.
