Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed likely to return for third Test despite discomfort

Despite injury concerns and discomfort, Pakistan's spinner Abrar Ahmed is anticipated to make a comeback for the third Test against Australia.

Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed seems poised to play the upcoming third AUS vs PAK Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on January 3, despite not regaining full fitness, as per a report in ESPNCricinfo. The leg-spinner had reported discomfort in his right leg during the third day of the practice match against Prime Minister’s XI last month. Despite bowling 27 overs and securing the wicket of Marcus Harris, Abrar missed two consecutive Test matches, resulting in Australia securing the series.

As per the report, in preparation for the third Test, it was disclosed that Abrar “bowled extensively during Pakistan’s Monday training session without apparent discomfort.” However, uncertainties persist due to the nature of his injury, which involves a pinched nerve and muscle weakness in his right leg. Injections were administered as part of his treatment, and his participation in the final Test hinges on how he feels after Monday’s training.
