Mitchell Marsh set for big pay rise by Cricket Australia, to enter top-tier: Report

Mitchell Marsh was also Pat Cummins' deputy in Australia's campaign at the World Cup 2023.

Mitchell Marsh is going through a purple patch, not only on the field, but outside it as well. As per a report, the all-rounder is in the running for a massive upgrade in pay contract from Cricket Australia. It was only in 2023, that Marsh became a regular in the Aussie side, after a spell of injuries. And since then, it has only been an upwards rise.

According to News Corps, Marsh is in the middle tier of the contracts list, and will soon be in the top list. He would be drawing anywhere between $500,000 to $800,000/year. Such a hefty raise in pay comes only after he has established himself as a key member in the all the formats.

Since his return to international cricket, he has won the Ashes, then the World Cup in India, and now the series vs Pakistan. In fact, just recently, he played a crucial role in Australia’s win over Pakistan in the Boxing Day Test. In the second innings, when his side was reeling at 16/4, he came up with a knock of 96.

“(Falling for 96 was) obviously disappointing … I thought we navigated our way out of a tricky situation to get a partnership with Smudge (Smith), and I guess there’s a lot of history at this ground, the Boxing Day Test, and a bloody big honours board that I was close to getting on, but it wasn’t meant to be,” he had said.

“Shaun got run out for 99 and Dad got 86 here, so Shaun’s technically still got me … hopefully I get one more crack at it.”
