Cape Town crime rate forces Rohit Sharma & Co to abandon New Year celebration

No New Year Celebration party for India Cricket Team, high crime rates in Cape Town pose big security threat

The India Cricket Team will not have a New Year Celebration. Rohit Sharma and Co has been asked to abandon the celebrations due to the high crime rates in Cape Town. The mood in the India camp is low after the humiliating loss in the IND vs SA 1st Test. The players have been advised to maintain adequate safety concerns while venturing out.

The India Cricket Team has been advised not to attend the year ender celebrations in Cape Town. The team flew off from Centurion to Cape Town early on 31st December to be ready and commence their preparation for the IND vs SA 2nd Test.

The high crime rates in Cape Town has forced Team India to ditch their party plans. Cape Town is notoriously famous for mugging, pickpocketing, burglary, snatching. Owing to these high street crimes, the players have been advised not to venture out in the city.

“Not serious but the general safety precautions we have to take, as usual,” an India Cricket Team player told Cricbuzz.

In 2023, Cape Town falls 16th on the list of the Crime Rates across cities in the World. Naturally the concern for the India cricketers is bound to be high. The team is set to play the IND vs SA 2nd Test on 3rd January. The Indian contingent is slated to return back to the country on 8th January.
