Root had been ever-present in the England team since making his debut. He made 11,416 runs in 135 Tests, scoring runs at an average of 50.29. Root has scored 30 centuries and 60 half-centuries for England, with his highest score being 254. He is England’s second highest scorer in Tests and 10th highest scorer overall in the longer format of the game.

Root is England’s all-time leading run-scorer. Root is ranked 14th among the highest run-getters of international cricket and has taken 93 wickets in all formats.
