IND vs SA 2nd Test: Shubman Gill keen to find form again, ready to do away with wretched 2023 Test stint

Shubman Gill has been in poor form off late. The Baby GOAT has been given a new position in the India Cricket Team Test team. While batting at number 3, Gill has failed time and again. The star batter is yet to register a fifty batting at his new position. Gill however was absent from India’s optional practice session.

After a humiliating loss in the IND vs SA 1st Test, Rohit Sharma and Co hit the nets grinding and working hard to get a positive result in the next match. Joining the likes of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, Shubman Gill has opted out of the practice session.

2023 in general been poor for Gill in terms of red ball cricket. The youngster has managed to score just 258 runs from just 10 innings. Apart from a 128 against Australia in March during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Gill hasn’t managed a single fifty in Test throughout the year.

As Yashasvi Jaiswal broke through the ranks to join the India Cricket Team, Gill was moved down to Number 3 spot to accommodate the young southpaw at the openers spot. The India Cricket Team board however believes Gill could be a long term replacement for Cheteshwar Pujara in Tests.

With 2023 coming to an end and a chance to level the IND vs SA Test series in the New Year’s Test, Gill will surely like to reset the wrongs and prove his worth in the team with a commanding performance.
