Indian Football Schedule 2024: Another year and a jam-packed football calendar awaits the football fans of India. The Indian Super League, I-League, Super Cup, and the prestigious Durand Cup will be held like every season. Apart from this, it is an important year for the India National football team.
The Blue Tigers made significant strides, achieving a historic milestone by securing three titles within a span of four months in 2023. This exceptional feat not only brought home silverware but also created enduring memories, highlighting the sport’s growing influence and promising future in India.
Indian Football Possible Schedule for 2024:
Indian football is gearing up for a packed 2024, commencing with the AFC Asian Cup 2023. Drawn into Group B alongside Australia, Uzbekistan, and Syria, the Blue Tigers will kick off their journey against Australia on January 13th. They next play matches against Uzbekistan on the 18th and Syria on the 23rd.
Simultaneously, the domestic Kalinga Super Cup is set to run parallel to the continental tournament, starting on January 9th and culminating in the finals on January 28th.
The Indian Women’s League is also set to run from January until March 24th with the Final scheduled in April. Starting from the 2nd of February the U19 Women’s Team will play the SAFF U19 women’s tournament with the final scheduled on the 8th. The games for the senior team is yet to be decided, however AIFF looks to arrange for more tours and friendlies for the Blue Tigresses.
The 77th edition of the Santosh Trophy is scheduled to take place in Arunachal Pradesh from February 21 to March 9, 2024. Shifting focus to the second half of ISL 2023-24, it is slated to begin in February and extend until April, with the date and venue for the final yet to be determined.
The I-League is also set to conclude in April, with the top team earning promotion to ISL 2024-25. Notably, the upcoming ISL season will introduce relegation since its inception.
In March, the Indian football team will once again return to action for the second leg of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup 2027 Joint Qualifiers. Facing Afghanistan in two respective home and away matches on March 21st and 26th, they will resume their qualifiers campaign in June against Kuwait on the 6th and Qatar on the 11th.
Looking ahead, the new season for Indian football is expected to kick off in July 2024, with the Durand Cup initiating the session followed by the Indian Super League in September 2024. Additionally, the AIFF is considering the revival of the Federation Cup for the 2024-25 season, although specific dates and the possible window remain unknown.
