Irfan apologises after Rahul’s batting assessment, Gavaskar says ‘won’t accept’

India vs South Africa: Team India begins their second Test against the Proteas in Cape Town on January 3.

Perhaps the only positive to come out of the first India vs South Africa Test, for the visitors would be KL Rahul’s century, and his technique. Many experts were left surprised, and also impressed with his showing in the Centurion Test. In a video that has gone viral after a couple of days of being uploaded, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan can be seen talking about Rahul’s technique extensively.

Some interesting comment by Pathan also brought out some banter with the legendary Sunil Gavaskar. While after his assessment, Pathan tried to apologise, Gavaskar did not accept his apology. “Inhone mujhe sorry bola lekin main accept nahi karunga, [Even though he apologized, I will not accept],” Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

Pathan too shared the entire incident on X, captioning it, “Gratitude fills me today, and it’s not just any day—thanks to Sunny sir for the uplifting compliment. Truly made my year. Grateful.”
