IND W vs AUS W 2nd ODI preview: Women in Blue aim for comeback win against mighty Aussies

Harmanpreet Kaur's team seek series-levelling win against Alyssa Healy's Australia after succumbing to a an easy defeat in the first match.

Wankhede Stadium will be witnessing another thrilling match as the Indian Women’s Cricket Team look to bounce back in the IND W vs AUS W ODI series. Harmanpreet Kaur-led team takes on Alyssa Healy’s Australia in the IND W vs AUS W 2nd ODI at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on December 30th.

Australia shook off the defeat against India in the one-off Test by outplaying India in the IND W vs AUS W 1st ODI. India scored 282 in the 1st ODI batting first. Australia chased down the target with 22 balls to spare, pushing their noses ahead in the series.

Smriti Mandhana missed the 1st ODI due to illness. The Indians will be be relieved get one of their main batters back into the starting line-up. However, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s off form with the bat will be a cause of worry for the team management. Although it is a good sign that several Indian batters were among runs in the previous match. Jemimah Rodrigues and Pooja Vastrakar scoring half-centuries each and Yastika Bhatia scoring 49. The Indian bowling unit will look to improve their performance in the second ODI after a flop show in the first ODI where all bowlers except Renuka Singh went for over five runs an over.

Coming to the Aussies, their batters will be just looking to do the same things they did in the 1st ODI. Barring the Aussie skipper herself, every other batter in the line-up looked strong and comfortable in the run chase. Phoebe Litchfield and Ellyse Perry took the game away from Indians with individual scores of 78 and 75 respectively. Then, Tahlia McGrath and Beth Mooney partnered in the middle to help Australia cross the finishing line. Australia will also look to do better on the bowling front, having some good options in the pace department in it’s ranks.
