Saweety Boora, Jaismine claim gold in 7th Elite Women’s National Boxing Championships

Saweety Boora and Jaismine win gold in the 7th Elite Women's National Boxing Championships, while RSPB maintains its dominance.

Saweety Boora, the reigning world champion in the 81kg category, and Jaismine, bronze medallist at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in the 60kg category, emerged victorious in the 7th Elite Women’s National Boxing Championships held at the GBU Indoor Stadium in Greater Noida.

Representing Haryana, Saweety dominated her bout against Lalfakmawii Ralte in the 81kg category, securing a comfortable 5-0 win as her opponent from Mizoram posed little threat to her title defence. On the other hand, Jaismine, competing for the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB), faced a tough challenge from Simranjit Kaur Baatth of Punjab. The judges declared a narrow 4-3 victory in favour of Jaismine after a closely contested match.

Jaismine was honoured as the Best Boxer of the championship, while Team Uttar Pradesh received the Fair Play award. Sonia from UP was recognized with the Best Challenger award, and Lalita from Rajasthan was named the Best Promising Boxer.
