Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami have been dealt with a massive blow. Star Argentine forward, Lionel Messi is set to miss atleast 7 matches ahead of next season. The new MLS season is set to begin in February, but Messi will miss his club commitments. This is mainly due to Argentina’s participation in the Copa America which will force Messi to miss 7 matches for his new club.
After his sensational move to USA from PSG, Lionel Messi is set to begin his first full season in US. The Argentina skipper had a sensational with Inter Miami. Though the club finished 14th on the standings, he managed to rake up 11 goals from 14 appearances.

In terms of the International football, Argentina the World Cup champions will be ready to begin their Copa America title defence in June 2024. This will force Messi to miss atleast 7 matches for Inter Miami.
Messi will captain his side in the Copa America which will take place in June and July. Argentina are slated to play their first Copa America group stage match on 21st June. Messi will miss 5 MLS matches during this phase which will include matches against Philadelphia Union, Colombus Crew, Nashville SC, Charlotte FC, and FC Cincinnati.
On the other hand, during the start of the new MLS 2024 season, Messi is likely to feature in 2 more games for Argentina during the February International break. But the fixtures are yet to be finalised.
