Former England player Trevor Sinclair to join India Football Team’s coaching staff ahead of Asian Cup

According to a report by RevSportz, footballer-turned-coach Trevor Sinclair will join the Indian coaching team on December 29, the day before the national team travels to Doha, Qatar, to take part in AFC Asian Cup.

Former English footballer Trevor Sinclair has reportedly joined the coaching team of the Indian national football team ahead of AFC Asian Cup next month. Sinclair, 50, will work with the head coach of India, Igor Stimac, as a set-piece coach and in-match tactical assistant during the group B matches of AFC Asian Cup. The Indian national football team is scheduled to face Syria, Uzbekistan and Australia in the group stages of the tournament.

According to a report by RevSportz, footballer-turned-coach Trevor Sinclair will join the Indian coaching team on December 29, the day before the national team travels to Doha, Qatar, to take part in AFC Asian Cup. The tournament, which will decide the next AFC Asian champions kicks off on January 12, with the final taking place on February 10.

The former England international, who won 12 caps and was part of the 2002 FIFA World Cup squad, was at West Ham United with Igor Stimac in the early 2000s. He made 177 appearances between 1998 and 2003, scoring 37 goals for the club, before moving to Manchester City. Sinclair scored 5 goals in 82 games for the Cityzens.

Trevor Sinclair went on to play for Blackpool, QPR and Cardiff City before taking on the role of assistant manager-coach at Lancaster City during the 2014-15 campaign. Most recently he was in charge of football at Bamber Bridge with manager Jamie Milligan.
