Former England cricketer, Kevin Pietersen has advised South Africa pacer Nandre Burger to show aggression towards batters while bowling to make more impact in Test matches.
Burger, who made his Test debut with IND vs SA 1st Test on Tuesday, picked 2 wickets on Day 1 of the Centurion Test and impressed cricket pundits with his pace.
Pietersen heaped praise on the 28-year-old pacer but suggested that Burger should avoid smiling at batters while bowling.
The 43-year-old reasoned that smiling at batters gives them a “small win” which should not happen in high-octane matches.

“I like Nandre Burger. I like his pace a lot. The only thing I’d like even more, is if he didn’t smile as much and got more aggressive! Smiling at batters gives them a small win every single time. Bowl fast, seriously fast and DO NOT smile after most deliveries!”, Pietersen posted on X.
Talking about the game, Kagiso Rabada’s 5-wicket haul has put South Africa in complete control on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test. India were fighting at 208/8 before rain halted play. KL Rahul was the top scorer for the visitors with an unbeaten 70.
