India skipper Rohit Sharma steps back into the limelight of the media after a self-imposed break following the World Cup’s bitter finals. The Indian cricket captain will address the media for the first time since his team’s agonizing WC defeat ahead of IND vs SA 1st Test.
Rohit Sharma came close to becoming the third Indian captain to win the ICC World Cup on November 19. However, India’s loss to Australia in the final left the skipper dejected wanting a way out of all the commotion. Despite the setback, Rohit, who had distanced himself from the spotlight, is set to speak to the media for the first time since the loss.
India entered an ICC final as the favoured team against Australia. However, a lacklustre batting performance, except for Rohit’s contribution, and a century from Travis Head left India helpless in the World Cup final in Ahmedabad.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli return for IND vs SA 1st Test:
After the World Cup, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli took a break from national duties, skipping the home series against Australia and the white-ball part of the South African tour. The BCCI granted permission for their break. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma were seen in London, while Rohit Sharma was with his wife in a foreign location.
Both captains are returning for the red-ball format against South Africa starting on December 26 in Centurion. They have joined the squads and were seen practicing. Kohli had to rush back to India due to a family emergency, the details of which are unknown. Despite the unforeseen circumstance, he rejoined the Indian team in time for the Boxing Day Test.
