Veteran Gautam Gambhir has picked his ideal playing XI for the upcoming IND vs SA 1st Test match starting on December 26 (Tuesday). In a conversation with Star Sports, Gambhir backed youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal to open the innings alongside skipper Rohit Sharma.
At the No.3 spot, Gautam Gambhir picked Shubman Gill. Maestro Virat Kohli will be batting at No.4 in the Test series and Gautam Gambhir didn’t doubt that too. At No.5 and No.6, Gautam Gambhir backed Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul to play. The batters will hold a key for the team in the middle order and a lot would be reliant on them. The duo will be crucial for the team.
Gautam Gambhir went with a combination of one spinner. However, he was confused to choose between Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. The Southpaw backed Shardul to be the seam-bowling all-rounder in the team.
The veteran batter opined that Prasidh Krishna will be making his debut in the IND vs SA 1st Test. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj complete Gambhir’s playing XI for the upcoming clash.
