Anmol Kharb, at the age of 16, clinched the national championship at the 85th Senior National Badminton Championships. In addition to Kharb’s victory, Chirag Sen secured the men’s singles title, while Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto emerged victorious in the mixed doubles category.

Sixteen-year-old Anmol Kharb secured the national title at the 85th Senior National Badminton Championships with a remarkable performance. In the women’s singles final, Kharb emerged victorious over Punjab’s Tanvi Sharma, claiming the title with an impressive scoreline of 15-21, 21-17, 16-8.

In a surprising turn of events, unseeded Chirag Sen clinched the men’s singles title by defeating the fourth-seeded Tharun M of Telangana, showcasing resilience in a match that unfolded with scores of 21-14, 13-21, 21-9.

The mixed doubles title was comfortably secured by the recently crowned Yonex-Sunrise Odisha Masters 2023 champions, Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto. They defeated the sixth-seeded duo of Nitin Kumar and Navdha Manglam with a commanding scoreline of 21-13, 21-8 in just 25 minutes.

The women’s doubles final witnessed an impressive comeback as Priya Devi Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra claimed the title with a turnaround victory. Overcoming a first-game deficit to Ritika Thaker and Simran Singhi, they secured the win with a final score of 11-21, 21-14, 21-18 in a match that lasted an hour and 11 minutes.

In an edge-of-the-seat thriller, the men’s doubles final saw K Pruthvi Roy and Suraj Goala, training at the recently inaugurated National Centre of Excellence in Guwahati, causing an upset. They defeated Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala with scores of 20-22, 24-22, 21-14. Despite conceding the closely fought opening game, Pruthvi and Suraj displayed aggression in the subsequent games, securing victory over the experienced top-seeded combination of Krishna and Vishnu.
