Team India are gearing up for the 2-match Test series against South Africa, starting on December 26 in Centurion. The Test contingent, led by Rohit Sharma, is sweating hard in nets for big challenge. While the performance of Indian batting and bowling will determine the outcome of the Boxing Day Test, there is another factor that will play a key role in IND vs SA 1st Test – Toss.
The toss is set to play a pivotal role in the upcoming Test at Centurion. The historical significance of the toss at this venue has been backed by the stats which shows the team batting first gets big advantage.
Recent records indicate that out of the last 10 games played at SuperSport Park, eight were won by the team batting first. As has happened in past tours, the cracks on Day 4 and 5 make batting a daunting task in the fourth innings.

In the 2017-18 series when India toured South Africa, the visitors found themselves on the back foot as they lost the toss at Centurion. India suffered a defeat after failing to cope with the challenges posed by the cracks.
However, the tables turned for the hosts during India’s last Test trip to Centurion in 2021-22, as they experienced a similar fate after losing the toss at the venue.
While Rohit Sharma and Co. will be aiming to give their best with both bat and ball, the team will also be hoping for a bit of luck in winning the toss.
