Hit in white-ball formats, India skipper has no fifties to show in Tests

Harmanpreet Kaur, though, has a stellar record in ODIs and T20Is. In 127 ODIs, she has scored 3393 runs, and in T20Is, she has 3195 runs.

Despite enjoying a legendary status in Indian women’s cricket, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has an unwanted record to her name, that she would like to get rid of, as soon as possible. The hard-hitting batter is currently leading the team in India vs Australia one-off Test at the Wankhede Stadium, where the team is putting up an exceptional performance, but her own contribution has been below-par.

After the Aussies were bundled out for 219 in the first innings, the Indians were in a spot of bother at 260/5, but Harmanpreet failed to give the necessary relief to the team. She got out on a duck, yet again in Tests. This was her second score of zero in the eight innings she has played in Tests.

What is even more striking is, that this was her fifth single-digit score in the longest format. To add to her woes, she has no fifty in Tests yet, with 49 being her highest score, which came against England, last week at the DY Patil Stadium. So, in short, she has scored only 131 runs in her Test career, at an average of 18.71. To put this in context, this is even lower than that of Pooja Vastrakar, who primarily plays as a bowler in the team. In the four matches, Pooja has an average of over 32.

India vs Australia, Hosts in Commanding Position

As far as the match is concerned, the Indian team is in a strong position, taking the lead of 157 runs against the Australians. With three more wickets left in the bag for the hosts, and Deepti Sharma still at the crease, India look set for a lead of over 200.
