Sanju Samson’s change of aggressive approach gains ex-India star’s admiration

There seemed to be a change in Sanju Samson's usual aggressive approach as he scored his maiden century in the 3d ODI

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar said that his admiration for Sanju Samson had grown considerably after India’s win against South Africa in the third ODI. The Kerala batter slammed his maiden century as India sealed the ODI series 2-1 after a 78-run win in the 3rd ODI.

Sanju Samson’s change of approach impresses Manjrekar

Taking to X, Sanjay Manjrekar pointed out that Samson had played a patient knock and most importantly a knock that the team needed. Manjrekar noted that the wicketkeeper-batsman had not scored a ‘blazing’ 100 off 80 deliveries but had played for nearly 39 overs before he reached his ton.

Comebacks over setbacks for Samson

The Kerala batter revealed that the last three months were challenging for him mentally. Noting that his father was a sportsperson too, Sanju asserted that the only way to tackle setbacks were comebacks. He stressed on how this knock was important to him after going through the tough phase.

“I have been blessed in my genes. My father is also a sportsman. How many over setbacks we have, there’s no other way but to come back, bounce back, see how much you can work on yourself and how much you can comeback in a stronger way. Last 3-4 months were really mentally challenging for me. So, going through all that and going there today and doing what I did, I feel happy and grateful“, Samson said.
