“They’re great cricketers but few of them haven’t played internationally so it’s about giving them some time to adjust. It’s about making their roles clear and they all gave their 100% so nothing more I can ask“, KL said in the post-match presentation.

The 31-year-old also praised centurion Sanju Samson and said that it was nice to see him do well at this level.

“Sanju has been a phenomenal performer in the IPL, unfortunately hasn’t got a lot of chances at the top of the order for various reasons but nice to see him do well today”, the Indian skipper added.

Samson’s 108-run knock along with Tilak Varma’s half-century powered India to 296/8 in 50 overs. In reply, South Africa, despite getting a good start, failed to get ovet the line and fell short by 78 runs.

Samson was adjudged the Player of the Match for his match-winning knock, while Arshdeep Singh was named the Player of the Series for picking 10 wickets in 3 games.

Team India will now travel to Centurion for the Boxing Day Test, starting on 26 December.
