Batting legend Sunil Gavaskar heaped high praise on Indian stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The former Indian skipper stated that the duo’s contributions to Indian cricket have been immense, and he would not be surprised to see their jersey numbers retired in the future.
While talking on Star Sports during IND vs SA 3rd ODI, Gavaskar talked about the impact of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in international cricket and speculated that the BCCI might retire jerseys #45 (Rohit) and #18 (Virat) in future.

“I can see number 45 and number 18 Jersey retiring the same like number 7 and number 10 in Indian cricket”, Gavaskar said on Star Sports.
Notably, BCCI retired MS Dhoni’s iconic No 7 jersey last week as a tribute to the former skipper’s contribution to the sport. The only other cricketer to receive a similar honour is Sachin Tendulkar, whose No 10 jersey has also been retired.
