Rajat Patidar played a short yet impressive innings to kick-start his ODI career. Replacing Ruturaj Gaikwad as India’s designated opener in the IND vs SA 3rd ODI, the right-handed batter played quickfire 22 (16) to throw his name into the mix as well.
Patidar’s short and crisp innings included 3 boundaries and 1 maximum and helped race to the 35-run mark by the end of the 5th over.
The 30-year-old batter has been playing 50-over cricket (List A) for the last 8 years and has nearly 2000 runs in 57 matches. The right-handed batter showcased his acumen as an ODI batter and also threw his name into the hat for the T20 World Cup 2024 with his aggressive style of play.

With the India cricket team scheduled to play just 3 T20Is left before the T20 World Cup, Patidar might have been aiming for a spot in the T20 squad with his T20esque innings. The batter from Madhya Pradesh has an incredible T20 record, with 1640 runs at 37.27 while striking the ball at 148.55.
