The lethal pacer trio of Mohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav, who spearheaded India’s bowling line-up at the 2015 World Cup, were reunited at the same team after 9 years. Umesh joined Shami and Sharma after he was picked up at the IPL 2024 auction on Tuesday. He as picked by the Titans for Rs 5.80cr.

The Sharma-Yadav-Shami pacer trio shared 48 wickets between them in the World Cup 2015. India were edged out of the tournament in the semi-finals as Australia handed a 95-run thrashing to the then Dhoni-led India. Since then, these three stars have gone on to represent various IPL franchises before reuniting at GT for IPL 2024.
“I have played World Cup 2015 with Mohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami. Excited to be playing at Gujarat Titans under Ashish Nehra. I am ready to learn and also teach the youngsters at GT if need be,” Umesh said after the IPL 2024 Auction.
Umesh Yadav boasts of having 146 wickets from 141 IPL games to his name, averaging 30.04. The fiery Shami has 127 scalps from 110 games and averages 28.67. Mohit Sharma, who has had splendid seasons with the CSK and PBKS, has 119 scalps to his name after having played 100 IPL games.

Speaking to Jio Cinema after the auction, Umesh said, “I have spent quite a lot of time with Ashish Nehra and I know how he trains the bowlers and maintains a good dressing room environment. I believe Gujarat Titans will be a great franchise for me,”
