England desperate for ‘box office’ pacer Jofra Archer to be fit for T20 World Cup

England will want the services of their premium and fiery pacer Jofra Archer for the T20 World Cup 2024 in USA & Caribbean

England are still counting on their injured ace pacer Jofra Archer to be a part of the side’s T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, head coach Matthew Mot has said. Led by Jos Buttler, defending champions England are actively looking for the services of the pacer for the T20 WC in USA & Caribbean and are hoping that ‘box-office’ Archer will be available for the tourney.

England want ‘box office’ Jofra Archer fit for T20 World Cup

With the road to T20 WC 2024 preparations having commenced, England coach Mot acknowledged Archer has a big threat to the opposition and expressed desire to get him fit in time for the marquee event.

In terms of Jofra, you’ve just got absolute box-office pace, change of pace, bowl any over in the innings,” he said.

“Him on the park is massive, everyone would agree with that.”

Archer and injuries – a love story

Injuries have been a constant part of Archer’s life, beginning from World Cup 2019. He wasn’t a part of the England squad that won the T20 World Cup in 2022 in Australia either. He was a part of the side that played against Bangladesh earlier this year.

Back in IPL 2023, Archer had suffered a recurrence of an elbow stress fracture, due to which he missed the World Cup and now the West Indies vs England series. Then back in September, during England’s series against New Zealand, Archer bowled in the nets at The Oval but wasn’t picked for the team. It was reported that he experienced pain in his elbow after the session, and thereafter was not picked in the team for West Indies.
