The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bought the second-most expensive player in IPL player history. The question people raised was, was it too much money? But the real question is: How will they accommodate him in IPL 2024? SRH already had 5 overseas players but decided to get 3 more in the IPL 2024 Auction auction for a whopping Rs 28.8 crore.
With 8 overseas players in the mix, SRH only have space for four of them. Despite having Aiden Markram, Glenn Phillips, Heinrich Klaasen, Marco Jansen, and Fazalhaq Farooqi, SRH have brought in Pat Cummins, Travis Head, and Wanindu Hasaranga. This is where the competition intensifies.

Middle-over enforcer & wicketkeeper
Considering Aiden Markram and Pat Cummins as two regular starters, SRH have room for only two more overseas players in their Playing XI.
And out of the two, one will be wicketkeeper. That is where, it is a two-way battle between Heinrich Klaasen and Glenn Phillips. Both batters have a strike rate of over 170, having played just 17 matches between them.
Question is, which wicketkeeper will SRH go with? If they go with Travis Head, he is an opener or at best No 3 player in white-ball cricket. With Mayank Agarwal and Abhishek Sharma already sealing the slots, Head will have to move to No 3.
With Aiden Markram fixed at No 3, Heinrich Klaasen was a perfect fit at No 4. Now, that plan will have to change.
All-rounder
SRH have two different options when it comes to picking an all-rounder. On one hand, they have a spin bowling all-rounder in Wanindu Hasaranga, while Marco Jansen has proven himself as a fine pace bowling all-rounder. Will they go spin or pace-heavy? There will be place for only one or none if SRH decide to go with both Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen.
