Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) analyst Prasanna Agoram has criticized his former IPL franchise for making poor decision during the IPL 2024 Auction. In a conversation with veteran Ravichandran Ashwin, Prasanna said that there will be a competition among RCB bowlers to see who will concede 50 runs in 4 overs.
“At a young age, everybody wants to marry Aishwarya Rai. But everybody cannot, right? After that, you will say to whoever you marry, “You are my Aishwarya Rai.” I can also say that, “We have got the players, what we feel and what we trust,” said Prasanna.
The former RCB analyst also stated that Faf du Plessis and Co. will need to score 260+ runs in order to give a fight to opposition. “In any stadium, be it Chinnaswamy, Periyaswamy, Doddaswamy, wherever. If they are batting first, they need to score 260-280 to win,” he added.

Coming into the IPL auction, RCB focus was well and truly on building a bowling attack, having released the likes of Harshal Patel, Josh Hazlewood and Wanindu Hasaranga. They signed overseas pacers Alzarri Joseph and Lockie Ferguson, as well as Indian left-armer Yash Dayal and English seam-bowling all-rounder Tom Curran.
Despite having a purse of INR 23 crore, RCB went on to bid for Pat Cummins till INR 20.25. Despite such efforts, the Red Army could not rope in Australian skipper as Sunrisers Hyderabad purchased Cummins in the IPL 2024 auction.
In all likelihood, only one pacer among Alzarri Joseph, Lockie Ferguson and Reece Topley will find a place in the RCB starting lineup. With Yash Dayal and Vijaykumar Vyshak as the other Indian pacer options, RCB bowling unit does look a little light at least on paper.
