Indian pacer Umesh Yadav was a happy man on Tuesday. The veteran bowler was grabbed by Gujarat Titans for Rs 5.8 crore in the IPL 2024 auction. After the auction, Umesh Yadav said he was looking forward to working with GT head coach Ashish Nehra again. Moreover, Umesh knows his fellow pacers in GT very well having been part of the Indian squad in the 2015 World Cup which also included the likes of Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma.

After spending the past 2 IPL seasons with Kolkata Knight Riders, Umesh Yadav was released by the KKR ahead of IPL 2024 auction, after having taken just 1 wicket in 8 matches in the 2023 IPL season. Yadav was purchased by KKR for Rs 2 crore in the IPL 2022 auction.
Speaking to Jio Cinema after the auction, Umesh said, “I have spent quite a lot of time with Ashish Nehra and I know how he trains the bowlers and maintains a good dressing room environment. I believe Gujarat Titans will be a great franchise for me,”
Umesh will have quite few known faces around him in the Gujarat Titans dressing room. Moreover, Umesh feels he can guide the juniors too, having had vast experience in the Indian set up.
“I have played World Cup 2015 with Mohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami. Excited to be playing at Gujarat Titans under Ashish Nehra. I am ready to learn and also teach the youngsters at GT if need be,” Umesh added.
Umesh is one of the top ten Indian wicket-takers in the IPL, having taken 136 wickets playing for various IPL franchises over the course of year. He has previously played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals.
