Former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has regained his number one position in the ODI rankings for batsman. India’s explosive Shubman Gill dropped to the second spot, while Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma occupied the 3 and 4 spots.

As per his own high standards, Babar had a poor World Cup 2023 as well, where Pakistan was ousted in the group stages. In the nine matches he played, he managed to score 320 runs. Although he had four fifties to his name, they could hardly contribute much since his strike rate during the World Cup was 82.90.
