Australian seamer Mitchell Starc was over the moon to rejoin Kolkata Knight Riders. The Kolkata based franchise bought the left arm pacer for a record Rs 24.5 crore in the IPL 2024 Auction. Starc had an unsuccessful stint with KKR in 2018. After being bought by KKR in the IPL 2028 auction, Starc sustained a serious injury that kept him out of entire IPL 2018. In spite of going for big money, Starc in a video released by Star Sports revealed that his day was like any other, which includes chores such as walking his dogs, mowing his lawns and buying grocery.
Starc will be raring to go after winning the ODI World Cup in India just a few weeks ago. His name saw an intense bidding on Tuesday’s IPL 2024 auction. Mumbai Indians and Ricky Ponting’s Delhi Capitals started the bidding war with Gujarat Titans joining them. Kolkata Knight Riders joined last, but eventually made the final bid over Gujarat Titans to take Starc home.
In an interview with Star Sports, Starc revealed what he was up to during the time of auction, “It’s been an interesting day today. It’s 10’O clock in Sydney and I’ve ticked off a few chores. Mowed the lawns, walked the dogs and been to the shop a few times. The auction started and I cooked myself dinner and sat down to watch the auction. Watched Pat Cummins go for a big number…I was getting a little jittery waiting for group 4 to come out.
“I’m excited to be back at the IPL. It has been a few year’s since I’ve been involved in this tournament. Obviously I was part of KKR in 2018, and unfortunately had an injury. Happy to be involved, but bit of a shock and surprise I guess,” Starc added.
