Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has said that he is impressed with way franchises approached the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai on Tuesday.
Manjrekar took to X (formerly Twitter) and lauded the franchises for not getting carried away by ‘outside noise’ and picked the players on their merit.
“Rachin 1.8 Cr and Darryl Mitchell Mitchell 14 Cr shows buyers weren’t getting too carried away by popularity wave and ‘outside noise’.
Impressed!”, Manjrekar posted on X.
Notably Rachin Ravindra was expected to be a hot pick in the auction after his stunning display in the ODI World Cup. However, franchise didn’t show much desperation in getting the Kiwi opener and CSK easily fetched him for Rs 1.8 crore.
Rachin Ravindra’s T20I performance in 2023–
Matches: 12, Runs – 91, Average – 18.20, SR: 133.82, HS – 26
Meanwhile, veteran all-rounder Daryl Mitchell, who also had a stellar year in all three formats for New Zealand, went for a whopping Rs 14 crore.
